into the newsroom. >>> a second suspect is behind bars in connection with a deadly crime tree in san jose and that suspect is just 15 years old. kimberly terry joins us from juvenile hall with more on the arrest. >> reporter: police say it was great detective work that led them to the teenager who they arrested in concord yesterday evening. the name of the 15-year-old is being withheld because of his age, but police say he will likely be charged with homicide, armed robbery and attempted murder. >> we are very glad he's in custody and hopefully the public can rest at ease. >> reporter: detectives had been looking for the suspect since last weekend since he and jonathan willbanks robbed four businesses, shot and killed a man and got in a shootout with police. the accomplice was arrested november 16, the night of the incident. >> i still can't believe it. >> reporter: news of the arrest came as loved ones gathered for a memorial in campbell. the 22-year-old was shot during the suspect's attempted carjacking in the parking lot of a 7/eleven. >> he wasted his life, his brother's life and the

-fire agreement coming up in a few moments. first, new out of the south bay. a deadly hit-and-run in east san jose has police at this hour searching for answers. according to police, a man was hit by two vehicles after 6:00 a.m. while crossing alum rock avenue. we have bob redell on the scene this morning. he has more details on what is happening out there. bob, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, jon. we spoken with a local neighborhood group who does not think this was a fluke. thinks this latest fatality here at alum rock avenue is a symptom of the problems on the road. they are not surprised a person has been hit and killed. this is the third pedestrian to be hit and killed in east san jose. the ninth person when you take into account the entire city of east san jose. the man, that is all we know, was jay walking after 6:00 this morning while it was still dark out and most likely raining. he was attempting to cross alum rock and was 75 feet away from the nearest crosswalk when the car ran into him. the car did speed off and did not stop or return. the police are looking for the driver. it

's going to be cold with some wind. that's coming up. >>> a san jose firefighter is recovering after a ceiling collapsed on him as he was fighting a three-alarm fire. it broke out around 8:00 last night. the flames raced through four apartments and damaged two others. a water logged ceiling broke loose and fell on the 16-year veteran. >> he was injured by a piece of large sheetrock, a ceiling that had fallen in when he was in the stairwell. so it had fallen from a considerable height. >> the firefighter was rushed to a nearby hospital with a concussion and fractured vertebrae. officials believe the fire was accidental. >>> memorial services will be held tomorrow for a young man who was shot and killed last week in apattempted carjacking in san jose. 22-year-old rory park was killed by two armed robbers who went on a crime spree in san jose on november 16. they are accused of murder, robbing four east san jose businesses, and having a shootout with police that left one officer hurt. jonathan willbanks is in custody. a donation fund has been set up for the victim's burial costs. >>> po

first thought. he was hurt while battling appear apartment fire in san jose and he remains in the hospital this morning. the damage was done at the apartment complex on willowleaf road. christie smith joins us with the latest on the fire captain's condition. good morning, christie ir. >> reporter: good morning to you. i finally spoke with a fire captain on scene. he said a chance to speak to that injured firefighter and he's still in good spirits, still feeling some pain, though. he was injured when a section of ceiling collapsed on him and he was actually trapped under that for just a little while. there is still a crew here on fire watch this morning. there was some concern still about the stability of the burned building. it was burned so badly and they sprayed so much water on it, that's where the concern is coming from. it started around 8:30 last night at this townhome complex on willowleaf drive. it took about three hours for firefighters to knock the flames down. when they arrived, they say flames were pouring through the roof and spreading through the attic. 18 peo

on the maps for san jose. north 87. let me zoom into the area. north of 280. you have flooding reported. we had water across all lanes around julian after another flooding report at taylor through downtown san jose. that tied things up heading north through 87 in downtown in the last ten minutes when we started to see improvement. blue on the map shows ponding and puddling. let's show you more colors. flooding, 6 to 8 inches, south 280 at wood side. that was a tough drive. if you are heading out of area, the bridges are an issue. the weather and wind and rain through the area. tougher visibility through fairfield at times. then the changing colors west through east at yuba pass. you see the blue and pink. pink means ice. icy conditions on roads. that is a concern. chains are not necessarily required for 880. they are suggested. bring the changes or don't go. interstate 880, a slower drive into tahoe city with icy conditions. getting around tahoe heights. you have highway 50, that is where chains are required. the white on the map shows ice and heading up to south lake tahoe where you have w

in san jose this morning. a police officer is injured and an all out manhunt an armed robbery suspect continues after a shootout on city streets. it started on highway 101 near 280 when police say officers spotted two men in a car that looked a lot like one used during four armed robberies used during the day. when officers tried to pull the car over, they sped off, leading officers on a chase. at that intersection, one of the suspects started shooting, grazing one officer as he ducked for cover. another officer in a second place car shot back hitting one suspect. the suspect ran away and was later caught and expected to survive, but his friend, the other suspect, also ran away and is still on the loose. the suspects are believed to be involved in a crime spree including armed robberies at a pizza parlor and a fast food restaurant scattered throughout the city. police are investigating the 42nd homicide of the year. officers say a man was shot and killed in the parking lot of a 7-11 store on south keily boulevard. the motive is unknown. officers say they are not sure whether this homi

robbery and attempted murder. san jose police have been looking for the suspect since last week after police say he and 26-year-old jonathan wilbanks and started a shoot-out with police that injured an officer. the teen's alleged accomplice wilbanks was arrested on november 16th, the night of the incident. today a memorial was held for rory parkpettiford. the 22-year-old was shot during the pair's attempted carjacking in a 7-eleven store in the 400 block of kieley boulevard. his brother says he is grateful the second suspect is behind bars. he also says he is overwhelmed with the outpouring of support from the community as the family comes to term with their loss. >> the plane flight back from hawaii to come bury my little brother was probably the longest five hours of my life, just sitting on the plane, just bawling my eyes out. and everyone is looking at me like who is this kid. it was absolutely terrible. i had to figure out what i was going to write on the plane, what i was going to say. it was really rough. but all the support is amazing. >> police say they're continuing to

in san jose. it broke out at the kimberly woods complex on willowleaf drive. that is where christie smith joins us live with more on the captain's condition and the damage to that apartment complex. good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, laura. i just spoke with the captain on scene here in san jose and he said that that firefighter will be kept overnight for observation. he said that he was hurt when falling sheetrock actually hit him, but i wanted to show you what the scene looks like here this morning. a crew is still here on fire watch. they're telling me there is concern about the stability of the building from the fire and all the water that they actually poured on it overnight. this is a three-alarm fire that displaced 18 people. a firefighter just told me when they got heres are flames were huge. they were pouring out of the building and most residents were already outside, but it damaged six units. two of them completely uninhabitable. it took them three hours to knock this down. residents in neighboring units had to evacuate while this was going on. captain ron brown ju
